Abstract

On October 23, 2018, the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and the Commission for Slovene in Public Use of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts organized a panel discussion entitled "Language and Gender", which took place at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. At the core of the discussion was the decree of the Faculty's Senate to alternate between the masculine and feminine grammatical forms for addressing all genders in Faculty's rules and regulations. The organizers aimed to open the discussion for the public to address how Slovene can employ gender-sensitive means in terms of actual linguistic solutions as well as in terms of various social situations. The transcription is based on the video of the discussion available on YouTube.
