Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show the theoretical background of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in foreign language teaching, the various concepts of such integrating, as well as its development in Slovenia, where interdisciplinary connections are assuming their place in the reformed foreign language curricula. Such crosscurricular integration always depends on the various factors that influence successful implementation. The final section presents a discussion on the integration of German lessons with other subjects where partial CLIL can be successfully carried out. Such teaching not only enriches everyday schoollife, but it also allows for better understanding and solving of complex problems in the foreign language classroom.
