Abstract

This paper discusses the question of “moderate” or “moderated” modernism in relation to 20th-century Serbian Church music, concluding that its influence in dialogue regarding with Orthodox spirituality and concerns with liturgical art was not only positive but is far from being exhausted.

Ivan MOODY je raziskovalni sodelavec Centra za študije sociologije in estetike glasbe (CESEM) Nove univerze v Lizboni, ki sodeluje z Univerzo Vzhodne Finske. Je predsednik Mednarodnega društva za pravoslavno cerkveno glasbo. Njegove najnovejše skladbe vključujejo klavirski kvintet Nocturne of Light in dela za Angleški komorni zbor in za Pro Musico v Seattlu. Med novejšimi objavljenimi članki in tistimi v tisku je omeniti študije o Ljubici Marić, Arvu Pärtu ter o vidikih bolgarske in srbske cerkvene glasbe. Trenutno piše knjigo o modernizmu in pravoslavni duhovnosti v sodobni glasbi.
